April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th day of July, began taking lessons on piano and guitar at seven years old. Her interest in writing songs was ignited. The first song she wrote was called Different. She wrote it at the age of 12. When April was 14 years old, she spent the majority of her time developing song ideas and perfecting her music. She began writing alongside her father and her dad in NY and LA shortly after. The month also saw her include additional topics that were related to of her peers who are dealing with issues such as peer pressure disabilities and even teens who commit suicide through the songs"Take" my Hand. Lockhart collaborates with popular cosmetics brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle blogger who has a growing fan base. She was born without a left hand. This creates her unique. It's not the only aspect that makes her unique. Lockhart's profile on Instagram doesn't hide her disability but doesn't just focus on her disability. The point? The message is that we are more than the physical person we are. Our identities are multifaceted and encompass a variety of aspects. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she didn't want to be defined by her handicap. She doesn't want to become an advocate for disabled people who only talks about disability. There are many aspects to Lockhart. The fact that she is a disability influencer doesn't impact my everyday life. It's all normal, and I have learned to make adjustments. It's an integral aspect of my existence, therefore it's important that we talk about it. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken is one that can last a lifetime, but she can be a role model for this purpose. She admits that she has been through times when she felt uncomfortable in dressing in certain styles that displayed her arms. She wears whatever she wants and proudly posts pictures of herself dressed in outfits she picks out on social media. To her, self-love was a long journey. That's true of everyone regardless of their insecurity. I think it's important to surround yourself with those who can discern and understand your heart.
